Puka Dog #2

Rusty and I took a walk to Puka Dog today. Rusty was very popular while we waited in line! The guy behind the counter even offered him a treat!

Today we got the Polish Sausage, Hot Chile Pepper Secret Sauce and the Mango Relish, with a fresh squeezed Lemonade. Rusty got a tall cup of ice water! Puka Dog was delicious and VERY messy! Lemonade was very refreshing but not lemony enough!

Last night we took a walk to the beach to see if the water in Waikiki was at all effected by the Tsunami that hit American Samoa. There were barely any waves here - although all day yesterday beachgoers were told to stay out of the water because of the tides. We took a picture on the beach but it was too dark to see the water in the picture. Rusty is a little bug-eyed because he wouldn't look at the camera and had to be "forced" to.

We ran into Senor Frog on the way back... Rusty was VERY confused.

And for all of you Louis lovers out there - this is right down the street from where we live! Just a few short blocks away!! :) You wouldn't believe the shopping around here --- Louis, Burberry, Prada, Kate Spade...

Rusty and I are getting ready to take a walk to Puka Dog for lunch! Aloha!

Food Shopping

Went food shopping today at the Food Pantry on Kuhio Ave. I walked with a cart from the apartment to the store like a good little city girl! The prices for anything "convenient" were definitely more expensive then we are used to but everything that requires a stove or oven is "normally" priced. The only thing that stood out was the Milk (see above)!! Don't worry there are grocery stores outside of Waikiki that are more reasonably priced - the Food Pantry is just a walk away - and since I may not buy a car it is great for quick runs to the store!! Aloha!

Aloha! Well I am finally starting to feel better - not quite 100% but definitely better than the past week!

On Wednesday we moved from the Hilton Prince Kuhio hotel to our temporary home at the Kaiolu Sunrise. We are renting a 1 bedroom furnished apartment until October 28 - our new deadline to find a home. The apartment has been great to us so far - it is very pretty, has a pool, allows dogs - and is very close to lots of shopping (Louis Vuitton is right down the street!!)

So our new deadline for a Waikiki home is October 28th. This has worked out perfectly though because our furniture will not be here until the end of October!!!

Tony has FULLY enjoyed his new surfboard purchase - surfed two sessions yesterday. When Tony gets home tonight I think we may venture out to the outlets for a little shopping - I need shorts and dresses - too hot for jeans here!

Hope our friends and family had a good break fast after the Yom Kippur holiday.

We love and miss all of you - but we aren't coming home yet :)! Aloha!

Still house hunting...

Sorry for no new posts over the past few days - I was very sick yesterday and still today, with some sort of stomach flu.

If you have spare time go back through the blog - I have added in pictures from my camera since my computer has arrived.

We are still on the house hunt - wish us luck!!

Puka Dog!

From the suggestion of Erin Kelly Felizzi, we ventured over to Puka Dog yesterday afternoon. I had been craving one ever since she described the "best hot dog ever."
I ordered the Italian Sausage, with the Mild Garlic Lemon Secret Sauce (Tony and I were splitting, and he doesn't like Spicy), and the Mango Relish. They take the bun and pretty much burn a hole through the center - they then squirt in your sauces and then plop in the Italian Sausage. This thing was messy but it was VERY GOOD (Tony wasn't a fan). Rusty even got in on the action - with Puka Dog Dog Treats! Already craving another one!

Aloha!

Waiting for the elevator this morning we saw a pretty rainbow!
Those are the lights from the hotel reflecting in the window  - not UFOs Dad!

Lazy Day

Tony's first day of work was yesterday, September 14. I dropped him off at Pearl Harbor and then went exploring around the island for a place to live.

Pictures from our balcony yesterday morning.

I ventured over to Ewa Beach (pronounced Eva) and found a few nice areas, but no leasing offices so I am back to internet research. I ate lunch at Subway in Ewa Beach - and the cute little lady behind the counter said I was ordering stuff from the Mainland when I asked for Old Bay and Spinach on my sub. Ooops!

Last night we ate at Wolfgang Puck's Express. Tony ordered the 4 Cheese Pizza and I ordered the Spicy Chicken Pizza, and of course, we split an order of French Fries. Everything was very good, and Rusty got to join us since we ate outside. Following dinner we watched ANOTHER beautiful sunset (pictures to come).

Tony was able to take a tour around the island today with some co-workers - he will fill us in later with some pictures! Today was a lazy day for me and Rusty! Starting to feel over this sickness but still coughing and still have the stuffy head :(. Hopefully this will end soon and I can really begin to enjoy our new home!

Tony's new co-workers told him of a few good areas for us to check out for apartments/townhouses. After I pick Tony up from work today we are headed to Kailua to look around.

Sunday MORNING Football and the North Shore

Yesterday morning, we ate breakfast at MAC 24/7 at our hotel, the Hilton Prince Kuhio in Waikiki. I was craving pancakes, and when I went to order them the waiter/bartender said they are BIG - but that is all I wanted. Well BIG was an understatement! These suckers had to be at least 15 inches wide. Apparently they are famous pancakes - mentioned on the Food Network. I didn't get the memo and barely made it a third of the way through them!!

We woke up today at 7am to watch FOOTBALL! Unfortunatly we didn't get the Ravens game at the hotel but we watched the other games and I started at the corner of the screen with the scrolling scores. GO RAVENS! Following the first set of games we watched the Redskins game - not so hot.

Headed to the North Shore in the afternoon - it is GORGEOUS and the waves are HUGE!! I know they are huge because Tony said HE wouldn't surf them!! We made a few stops along the way to check out the waves and the surf. At one stop we met this Sea Turtle - better pictures to come once I get my computer. He is believed to be 35+ years old and over 250lbs! He didn't do much but sit there while we admired his size!

After visiting the Sea Turtle we got back in the car and drove to Jameson's By The Sea on the North Shore. We sat outside overlooking the water and the marina. The breeze and sunset was perfect. We tried Mahi Mahi for the first time - which Tony really like, but it was breaded, so I wasn't a huge fan - tasted like a fish stick! But, the Fried Shrimp were some of the best I have ever had!

I would have enjoyed the whole day even more except that I am feeling very achey and sick today. Hopefully this will go away soon!

Good morning from Waikiki! We safely arrived in Honolulu yesterday afternoon! Animal Quarantine released Rusty right away! Thankfully we completed all of their requirements and Rusty was VERY excited to see us!

The Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio is very nice and a short walk from the beach! We walked to Jimmy Buffet's Margarittaville for dinner last night. After dinner we walked to the beach. The water was warm... And CLEAR!!!

Aloha!!
