12/14/09 Jill and Shannon Visit - Day 5

On Monday, we ventured out to the North Shore. Our first stop was at Turtle Beach, aka Laniakea Beach, to look for some sea turtles. When we arrived there were no turtles resting on the beach, so we went for the photo op on the rocks.

While on the rocks, some turtles decided to join us!

When we were on our way back to the car, a turtle decided to wim up to the beach and rest.

Next stop was another beach break that I didn't catch the name of. We stopped to check out the waves and take some pictures.

It was windy - hence the BIG hair!

Next stop, Waimea Valley Audubon Center and Waimea Falls.

We were all STARVING, so we headed straight for the Restaurant! While we waited for our food, I went searching for a peacock.

As soon as we sat down with our food, three peacocks wandered over to the picnic tables. A fellow diner advised us to watch our food, because they will jump on the table and grab our food! One even squeezed himself under the table and brushed up against me!!! The guy was kind enough to scare them off so we could eat in peace!

Lily Pads...

We even saw CHICKENS!

After a long walk, we finally arrived at the Waimea Falls.

Can you see Tony and Jill? Shannon and I stayed dry and warm and took pictures!

The Waimea Valley was very nice, and had GORGEOUS flowers! Our next stop was the world famous Pipeline Beach.  The Billabong Pipeline Masters was canceled for the day, due to SMALL surf!

After all of our beach stops, we were hungry again - we stopped at one of the many North Shore Shrimp Trucks. We took the long scenic route back to the apartment, driving the entire North Shore.

Later that night we took pictures by the Royal Hawaiian Center's Christmas tree and by Duke.

We headed to LuLu's for yummy Kailua Pork Nachos and shuffleboard, then called it a night! My legs were SO SORE, I could barely walk! Exciting Day!
